It's an 11-button controller with jog/shuttle wheel designed for video editing software, but the buttons can be programmed for any application. If you want the ultimate interface enchancement for form*Z, I suggest getting a Contour AVS ShuttlePro controller. I'll sell it for $10 plus shipping to whoever wants it. I now have a brand-new, still-in-the-box Logitech MX500 mouse to get rid of. I was going to take it back to the store but I missed the 30-day return window. This is very important as I want my mouse to do different things in different applications and I consider the lack of this capability a major shortcoming of the Logitech driver software. The actual mouse is fine (it has two more buttons than the Microsoft mouse), but the Logitech software doesn't let you program the mouse buttons separately for each application. My old wired mouse has left/right buttons, a middle scrolll wheel which is also clickable, and forward and back buttons at the thumb, for a total of 5 buttons.Īs for other mice, I purchased the Logitech MX500 mouse because I wanted just a tad more buttons than the Microsoft mouse has but I was sorely disappointed. You can program the mouse to do something different for each individual application on your computer, as well as giving it global settings. As much as I hate Microsoft, this is actually one very good product: the mouse is very well-built, the buttons are in the right place and have positive response, and the driver software is excellent. I have the wired version from about 4 years ago, but they now have a wireless version that is better contoured to the hand and easier to pick up when the cursor goes out of range on the screen. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer is the best. Kevin, are you using the Logitech for Mac or Windows? I cannot find any way to get my Logitech to recognize different apps through its prefs under Mac OSX. Many people use and swear by usb overdrive, (as Dan attests to, above) but I have not had as much success with it, especially in zoom/scrolling in Z. I agree with you that the Logitech programmability is wanting, but my MX 500 is perhaps the best mouse I have used. Maybe I am missing something or you have an older driver? I can easily configure it for different software and change the settings through system preferences as I work. I use a four button Logitech optical mouse and find the latest driver works great for me on OSX (the older driver was not very good). this will cost less then buying a new mouse and I really like the UI of the Logitech mouses. Right now i am using a Logitech and the programability is mediocre at best.Īny suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.Īny Microsoft mouse or Kensington will do the job, they both come with excellent drivers and control panels.īut you can keep on using your Logitech mouse with USB Overdrive. I am looking for some sugestions for a 2 button w/scroll wheel mouse for use with form Z on mac os x.
